It's Fall and Time for Harvest

Outside it looks like Fall is here. Walking every morning gives me the sense of what’s happening and even though I know what the calendar says, the volumes of acorns I’m stepping on and the trees that are early in losing their leaves tells the story. Even the dip in temperatures this last week, 66 degrees at 6am makes you bundle up.

Lots of adapting and expecting and planning and changes of planning all dependent on what you see God doing. I began this blog thinking about reaching lost people and making disciples, but also, trying to get birds in the back yard. The bird part of the adventure is proceeding well and now that Fall is falling, some more plans come into view.

Now we’re planting a church but my passion is reaching lost people and making disciples, that is, doing what we are supposed to do, what the church is supposed to do.

Just to say, last night our conversation reminded me of trying to get birds. Life is full of adapting and revision but when the Lord is involved it is fun.

The cell groups are getting better defined by reality. The conviction strengthened by what we see.

Life groups seem to be the best way to begin gathering people and then seeing and praying for those to invite into the cells. We could have “said” this, but now, by doing and praying and seeking, the light goes on and we are all on the same page with the same mind and conviction. I think that sounds like Philippians.

So on we go, not depending on Christians, but on the Lord and growth through the harvest, just believing Jesus’ word. The fields are already white. Regardless of our last attempts, as the Spirit shows us, we let down the nets. Tiredness and blankly praying suddenly gives over to the recognition that the Lord just showed you something. And you realize you are in a process with the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, doing the work together.
